Q 4: Is it permissible for a person to begin I`tikaf (seclusion for worship in a Masjid) at any time other than the last ten days of Ramadan?


A: Yes, it is permissible to begin I`tikaf at any time, but the best time is the last ten days of Ramadan in keeping with the tradition of Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). It is authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) began I`tikaf during the month of Shawwal in some years.May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
